It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.
Only in the darkness can you see the stars.
One should, when overwhelmed by the shadow of a giant, move aside and see if the colossal shadow isn’t merely that of a pygmy blocking out the sun.
I am the immense shadow of my tears.
Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.
May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.
All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.
Only the person who has experienced light and darkness, war and peace, rise and fall, only that person has truly experienced life.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.
Blessed are the moments, millimeters and shadows of the little things.
When the sun of culture is low, even dwarves will cast long shadows.
The shadows: some hide, others reveal.
Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings – always darker, emptier and simpler.
It is in the darkness that one finds the light.
Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one’s own sunshine.
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
